Wolframite is a kind of ore with high tungsten content, whose main components are calcium tungstate and iron tungstate. Because of the importance of tungsten, the mining and beneficiation of Wolframite has always been one of the research focuses in the mining industry. This article will introduce the beneficiation process flow chart of Wolframite to help readers understand the beneficiation process of Wolframite.
1、 Beneficiation principle of Wolframite
The beneficiation principle of Wolframite is to separate calcium tungstate and iron tungstate from the ore by gravity concentration, flotation and chemical separation. Among them, gravity separation is based on the density difference of minerals, flotation is based on the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of minerals, and chemical separation is based on the principle of chemical reaction.
2、 Beneficiation process flow of Wolframite
The beneficiation process flow of Wolframite mainly includes crushing, grinding, gravity separation, flotation, chemical separation and tailings treatment. The following will provide a detailed introduction to each step.
1. Crushing
The Wolframite ore needs to be crushed after being collected by the mineral processing workshop of the mine. Generally, jaw crushers and cone crushers are used for crushing. The particle size of crushed ore is generally below 10mm.
2. Grinding
Grinding is the process of further refining the crushed ore to meet the required particle size. Grinding generally uses ball mills and rod mills. The particle size of the ore after grinding is generally below 0.074mm.
3. Reselection
Gravity separation is to use the density difference of minerals for separation. The density difference between calcium tungstate and iron tungstate in Wolframite is large, which can be separated by gravity concentration. Gravity separation generally uses heavy medium sorting machines and centrifugal sorting machines. The grades of calcium tungstate and iron tungstate after re selection are about 60% and 70%, respectively.
4. Flotation
Flotation utilizes the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of minerals for separation. Calcium tungstate and iron tungstate in Wolframite have different hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, which can be separated by flotation. Flotation generally uses air flotation machines and stirring flotation machines. The grades of calcium tungstate and iron tungstate after flotation are about 80% and 90%, respectively.
5. Chemical sorting
Chemical separation is the separation process that utilizes the principles of chemical reactions. Calcium tungstate and iron tungstate in Wolframite can be separated by chemical reaction. Chemical sorting is generally carried out using a reagent reaction tank. The grades of calcium tungstate and iron tungstate after chemical separation are about 90% and 95%, respectively.
6. Tailings treatment
Tailings treatment is the treatment of waste generated during the beneficiation process. The tailings of Wolframite contain a certain amount of calcium tungstate and iron tungstate, which need to be recycled. Tailings treatment is generally carried out using heavy medium sorting machines and flotation machines.
III. Summary
The beneficiation process flow chart of Wolframite includes crushing, grinding, gravity separation, flotation, chemical separation, tailings treatment and other steps. Calcium tungstate and iron tungstate can be separated from Wolframite by gravity concentration, flotation and chemical separation. During the beneficiation process, attention should be paid to factors such as the particle size, concentration, and dosage of reagents to ensure the beneficiation effect.
